Series Tarot Major Arcana Matching: Part 4 FINAL!

The last part of the The Adventures of the Trinity and the One Tarot Major Arcana matching series. The final stretch of the Major Arcana are matched with characters and concepts from the series. Exciting stuff!

18 - The Moon: Malcolm Zfnoc & Fa’quiehja

Hidden enemies, danger, calumny, darkness, terror, deception, occult forces, error. Reversed: Instability, inconstancy, silence, lesser degrees of deception and error.

Malcolm Zfnoc is a hidden enemy throughout the Primordial Essences Saga. He is Fa’quiehja’s mysterious dark master, the one that he causes terror and keeps his silence for. And the darkness. The darkness! The elements of error and instability are also played with in parts of Containment Collapse and the latest book, Amethyst Shards, that I am writing now.

19 - The Sun: Ra

Material happiness, fortunate marriage, contentment. Reversed: The same in a lesser sense.

Self explanatory. Ra is the God of the Sun. The Sun! He doesn't really represent the actual meanings of the card per-say...as he is more of power and fate than such materialistic things. But this is the Sun and he is the Sun.

20 - Judgement: Farrco

Change of position, renewal, outcome. Another account specifies total loss though lawsuit. Reversed: Weakness, pusillanimity, simplicity; also deliberation, decision, sentence.

Finally, we arive at Farrco's placement. This one was incredibly easy for me as it was based on the fresh themes of Emerald Haze that relate with Farrco. He judges Ra'uw'la, judges Wildfire, and, most of all, he judges himself. Decisions are made by him that change the dynamics of the Amulet of Ra and the Guardian 'quest'. It just works on so many levels with Farrco's recent arc.

0 - The Fool: Chatzu'kuan

Folly, mania, extravagance, intoxication, delirium, frenzy, bewrayment. Reversed: Negligence, absence, distribution, carelessness, apathy, nullity, vanity.

Read Containment Collapse. There you go. There's no better way to articulate it then just to read that book and understand the events of it that concern Chatzu’kuan.

Chatzu'kuan was what I went with, but here are some alternatives that I contemplated:

  • Balon Zfnoctewoohi (again, read CC)
  • Khapiela Quahwu (it's possible that if there was an official ‘card’ design, she would be included in the side)

21 - The World: Carathoukiea

Assured success, recompense, voyage, route, emigration, flight, change of place. Reversed: Inertia, fixity, stagnation, permanence.

The World is Carathoukiea. And Carathoukiea itself sort of moves and shifts constantly. The world is all of existence and all things belong to it. I don't have anything else to add here...

Conclusion

And that’s the last of the Major Arcana! This was a really fun, thought provoking process. With the Major Arcana, there was something almost instinctual on some of the match-ups. It just made sense and I couldn’t always explain it. It just rang true at a primal level. I feel good about these alignments and how it turned out.

I hope to one day actually make these matchings into a beautiful custom deck of Tarot Cards…though, at that point, I’d need to do the Minor Arcana too! That’ll be a bigger process that’ll take me much longer as I’m unfamiliar with the Minor Arcana. But right now, I have the full set of Major Arcana done and that’s a milestone.

Quoted meanings are taken from ‘The Pictorial Key to the Tarot’.
