Here I am again with the recordings! This is the second of my additions to the novels. How to Stop Wildfire it felt natural to have a preface to explain the journey to it and explain it. With Harmonic Waves, my thoughts lingered on the content and what it meant rather than the journey so I chose to do a retrospection that is at the end of the novel. There are some spoilers within which is all the more reason it needs to be read following the book itself.

Read…or listened to. Yep. I recorded myself again. Enjoy!

Jumping On and On

If How to Stop Wildfire was practice that I could take a shred of story and transform it into something great through modernization and revitalization, Harmonic Waves was the first serious capitalization of that experience. It was the second, the successor of the messy first that was sourced from an even messier beginning.

How to Stop Wildfire is surely a testament to what I had learned, but it is still chained by it always being a long-time work in progress. Harmonic Waves, on the other hand, was written after I had achieved some semblance of …

Probably a post that you have all been waiting for. A character interview with the glorious, amazing Evil King Cyclone. This is set after the Dimensional Incident (aka How to Stop Wildfire) and following the formation of the Trinity and the One, but before the events of Harmonic Waves. So basically spoilers for HTSW, specifically the last chapter, but none for HW.

Interviewer: Shalaeyah

Cyclone: Shalaeyah. Bask in my glorious presence and persona.

How would you like your, admittedly famous self, to be addressed? Evil King? Leader of the Trinity and the One? Slayer of Caraseis? Or simply Cyclone?

I have so many delicious titles, do I not? So many to choose from. So many feats and aspects of my awe-inspiring being. But Cyclone will suffice.

Is there a particular reason for that?

Aye, there is. It is rather obvious. Would you like me to break it down into the minute aspects, or is your intellect strong enough to perceive it?

I think I understand. I will get to the next question.

Will I be the one asking it? Harahkara–it looks like I just did.

It just appear that way. Anyway. Back to the questions. What is it

I’ve been practicing my computer-art skills. I decided to make cartoon propaganda posters of the main four. Cyclone, King, Spellbinder, and Farrco. They all are kind of terrible in their own way, but I think it is important to try new things and learn new skills.

Cyclone looks like a cartoon character version of himself. I think he would be proud.

Cyclone Propaganda

King looks dorky, but he is sparking up so whatever. Drew him with the bracelet! Woo hoo!

King Propaganda

Spellbinder, is well, Spellbinder. She isn’t that hard to draw.

And of course, Farrco, who looks very geometric.

If I want my writing (not world-building) to be known for anything I want it to be remembered for having really witty dialogue (at some points,) and being kind of hilarious.

Most of this can be attributed to one character, Cyclone. It is hard to quantify the enjoyment I derive from figuring out the most elegant, hysterical, and slyly insulting things for him to spew. While also incorporating rhyming, alliteration or another semi-poetic device.

I am not going to lie. I laugh at the jokes I write into what he is saying. I don’t know if anyone else finds him as amazing as I find him myself, but I don’t care. Writing dialogue for Cyclone is AMAZING.

I don’t want to give too much away but I am writing/editing this section where Cyclone and King Fla’neiel (obviously) are bickering over planning, and they are both trying to one-up each other and the ‘burns’ they use on each other is just crazy. I think I just described any scene with the two of them. Cyclone has a subtle, but not at all subtle, way of insulting people while also aggrandizing himself, and Fla’neiel is more direct-to-the-point with his retorts. He …
